Hindu pilgrimages also called Yatras are made to holy places. You will find thousands of devotees that go on this yatra that is held in different parts of India. It is believed yatras must be done at least once in a lifetime which cleanses off all their sins. India has rich traditions and it is reflected easily during the yatras by the pilgrims. Many of these yatra places attract visitors from worldwide.

1. Amarnath Yatra

This Hindu pilgrim’s yatra has a stretch of about 43 km trek towards the cave. The shrine of Amarnath is located at a high altitude of 12,756 ft in the Himalayas. More than 600,000 devotees visit this holy trek that starts from Chandanwari & Nunwan.  July & August during the Shravani Mela festival marks the peak time.

 2. Puri Rath Yatra Rath Yatra

This chariot festival is held in Puri and is known to be the oldest Rath Yatras in India. The mesmerizing view of chariots towards Jagannath Temple to Gundicha Temple is something worth watching. Lord Krishna’s home returns during Janmashtami are celebrated with Puri Rath Yatra. This is celebrated in the month of June or July each year. 3. Baba Baidyanath Dham, Jharkhand

Deoghar Babadham has the World’s longest religious fair. It is located in Deoghar Jharkhand. Baidyanath Dham is among all 12 Shiva Jyotirlingas places in India.  Baba Dham is also popular for yatra during Shravani Mela. Millions of Shiva devotees follow Kanwar yatra or Kavad yatra during the month of July or August. They walk from Sultanganj to Deoghar with holy Ganga water that is offered on Shivlinga.

4. Vaishno Devi Yatra

This 13 km trek yatra in Jammu attracts thousands of devotees each year. Located at the high height of 5,200 ft on the foothills of the Himalayans. Devotees come with a belief that Devi hears all their calls.  There are many modes to reach the shrine-like palanquins, horses, and much more.

5. Kashi Yatra Varanas

This oldest Hindu pilgrimage in India has many temples spread around the Ghats of the holy river Ganga. Millions of devotees come each year to Varanasi and Kashi Yatras. 6. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

This is located at a high height of 22,000 ft.  On the Kailash mountain ranges, Mount Kailash peak is believed Lord Shiva’s home. This important site of Hindu pilgrimage is tough to reach. It can be done by people aged 18 to 70 years to climb the peak and take a dip in Mansarovar Lake’s holy water. You can go there via two routes Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand or the Nathu La pass.

7. Char Dham

Char Dham is connected to four pilgrim sites in India. Visiting these four sites Badrinath, Dwarka, Rameswaram, and Puri are believed to wash off all one’s sins. The main shrines of these places are the Jagganath Temple of Puri, Badrinath Temple of Badrinath, the Rameswaram temples, and the Dwarkadhish Temple of Dwaraka.
