Are CoolSculpting Results Permanent?

You may or may not have heard of CoolSculpting, it is a fairly recent invention that didn’t gain much traction for several years, but now it seems to be all anyone can talk about.

If you need to learn more about coolsculpting, then this is the article for you.

Let’s have a look at what coolsculpting is, and how long the results last for.

CoolSculpting: What Exactly Is It?

Coolsculpting is a type of cosmetic treatment that removes unwanted fat from the body, using a process called Cryolipolysis, which literally means killing fat cells with cold.

Coolsculpting is used to target those who have already managed to reduce body fat through exercise and diet, but are finding certain areas of the body more difficult to remove fat from.

The most typical areas of the body to target with coolsculpting are areas such as the abdominal area and sides, and the lower back, thighs, upper arms, buttocks and under the chin.

Coolsculpting works by holding the fat in between two metal panels, and then cooling the area down to a freezing temperature.

The temperature is such that it only causes the death of the fat cells in that area, and does not harm other tissues such as skin and muscle.

The fat cells then die, and are removed from the body naturally via the liver and the body’s natural detoxifying system.

Each area takes around an hour to treat, but of course this depends on the size of the area being treated.

How Long Do The Results Last?

Once an area has been treated, you will not see results immediately. Results can take a few weeks, to up to six months to be as good as they are going to be.

However, the results are permanent, as long as you don’t gain weight. [READ: How Not To Gain Extra Pounds During The Holidays]

Coolsculpting literally causes the fat cells to die, and so those specific fat cells cannot return, because the body removes them when they die and they cannot come back.

However, should you gain weight in the future, there is a chance that the fat cells will be laid down in that area again by the body.

Everyone is an individual, and where fat accumulates in one person, may not be a problem for someone else, but everyone does have one particular area that is more prone to fat deposits than others. So if you do gain weight, you can expect fat to appear in those areas.

It is a good idea to visit or contact a top rated fat freezing treatment center and have a consultation with them prior to booking any treatments.

They can examine you, and advise you on what results you can expect with them, and advise you of all the risks and benefits associated with coolsculpting.

Can Anyone Have CoolSculpting?

Most people are suitable for coolsculpting, but not everyone.

There are certain medical conditions such as cryoglobulinemia, amongst others, which mean you are not suitable for this procedure. Also if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should not have a coolsculpting treatment.

Coolsculpting can only target specific areas of fat, and therefore it is not a treatment for overall body fat loss. So if you are wanting to target large areas of the body, then a different treatment, such as liposuction would be more suitable.

Coolsculpting has very few side effects, but it does have some, like any procedure.

The most common side effects patients experience are redness, swelling, bruise and sensitivity at the treatment site, however these noramly get better on their own within just a few days.

Less commonly, some people may experience nerve pain, or loss of sensation at the area that has been treated, but this normally resolves within one to two weeks.

Very rarely, some people experience fat gain at the treatment site. It is unclear why this happens, as it is also unknown why this happens to men more than women. Further coolsculpting treatments will only increase fat accumulation in the area, and a treatment such as liposuction may be needed to rid the area of unwanted fat.

Coolsculpting is a very popular treatment, mostly because it is non-invasive, and non-surgical, and there is very little recovery time.

If you decide you want to go ahead with it, then it is important to find a reputable clinic, with a doctor you trust and who is honest with you, and lets you know if the procedure is right for you.

Coolscultping only takes a few hours, and you can continue with your day as normal after the treatment.
